Ido Romano

Ido Romano Ido Romano (b. 1987) is a composer from Jerusalem, Israel. His contemporary musical language expresses original and profound influences of western classical music, electronic, jazz, folk traditions and Turkish classical music, in which he specializes and performs.

In 2018 he was chosen to participate in an exclusive program working with and composing for the London Symphony Orchestra.

His notable works include “Elevations” (2017) for chamber orchestra, commissioned by the Netanya Kibbutz Orchestra, described as “Romano’s orchestration is vivid, bristling with shimmering, dissonant screens of sound… A celebration of exuberance and orchestral colour…” (Pamela Hickman, 2017).
His latest piece, “Középen” (2018) for Clarinet & Violin, was performed at the Liszt Academy, Budapest, where he studied for a semester in a student exchange program.

In 2016 and 2015 he won 1st place and 2nd place (respectively) in the Mark Kopytman composition contest, both performed by Meitar Ensemble.

2nd place for: “Glance Upon A Time” for Vln. , Cl. , Vcl. & Pno. (2015)

Additional compositions and arrangements were performed at the “Jerusalem Light Festival”, the “Israel Music Center”, Tel Aviv museum, and others.

Currently, he is finishing his Masters Degree at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, where he also studied his Bachelors degree for which he received the Academy President Prize for the 2015-2016 academic year.
