Omri Kochavi

Omri Kochavi Omri Kochavi (b. 1994) is an Israeli composer and guitarist based in London. His work is characterised by drawing its language from a broad range of influences, whilst focusing on the reality of sounds, people, and the interaction between them.

Omri is currently finishing his postgraduate degree at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama, studying with Julian Anderson. He is also a Britten-Pears Young Artist, one of 6 composers that form the 2021-2022 cohort. He is generously supported by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and the Jerusalem Institute for Contemporary Music.

At the moment, Omri is working on a commission for the 2022 Aldeburgh Festival, a collection of pieces exploring his Iraqi-Jewish heritage, amongst them a new choral work for the BBC Singers. other upcoming highlights include a new collaborative music/dance piece for the 2022 Resolution Festival at The Place Theatre, and an orchestral commission for the Orchestra of Opera North's Minute Masterpieces.

Omri is also an active guitarist. He holds a BFA in jazz guitar from The New School (New York), and plays regularly in both jazz and contemporary music contexts, performing his work and others'.
