Assaf Matityahu

Assaf Matityahu Assaf was born in Israel in 1982. Once completed his military service as a navy officer on 2006, Asaf began his studies in composition at the Jerusalem Academy of music, Dr. Ayal Adler's class. Following his undergraduate degree, he went on to complete his Masters degree (M.Mus), supervised by Prof. Zvi Avni. Assaf’s work has won notable awards and prizes; The Adele and John Gray Composition award and the “Ensemble’s choice” prize at the ‘America-Israel cultural foundation AVIV competitions 2011’; First prize at the Avni-Yador Composition competition 2007. In addition, a collaboration with choreographer Merav Shahaf, won first prize at the Gertrud Kraus Choreography competition 2008.
His debut album "A figure in the dark" was published in 2009. As a pianist, he performs with several theater groups. As an arranger, he worked with several orchestras and top pop artists as Beri Saharof and Asaf Avidan.
