Irena Svetova

Born in Moscow, Irena Svetova is a graduate of the Tchaikovsky Academy of Music, were she studied with Professor Tikhon Chrennikow.
Her chamber, choral, orchestral, theatrical and music for young musicians compositions have been performed widely in Russia, Europe and Israel and have won a number of prizes and awards.
Since her immigration to Israel in 1991, she has been teaching at the conservatory at high school attached to the Rubin Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem.
In 2003 the Israel Contemporary String Quartet won the Oedoen Partos prize for its outstanding performance of the string quartet by Irena Svetova.
In 2007 she won the Israel Prime Minister Composers Prize.
In 2015 she won the Stern prize for her donation to the Israeli culture in the composition category.
