Gil Shohat

Gil Shohat Born in Tel-Aviv, Israel, 1973. He is a graduate of the Israeli Music Conservatory, holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees of Tel-Aviv University and a Corsi di Perefezunamento in two parallel courses (piano and composition) of the Santa Cecilia National Academy in Rome, Italy. Among his composition teachers: A.Haydu, A.Corghi, I.Vandor, and A.Goehr. Among his piano teachers: A.Vardi, M.Curcio, and S.Perticaroli. Gil has completed his studies in composition and piano with L.Berio, G.Benjamin, V.Kaplinski and A.Weisenberg. Gil has won several scholarships and prizes, among them: 1st prize of the Israeli Academy, 1st prize of the Arthur Rubinstein Composition Competition, the AICF scholarship, from the British Council and study scholarship from thr Italian Goverment. His pieces have been performed in many European countries, USA and played by leading Israeli Orchestras.
