Dor Fischer

Dor Fischer Dor Fischer (b.1992) is a Composer, Conductor and Percussionist.
His compositions have been performed by The Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Netanya Kibbutz Orchestra, the Haifa Symphony Orchestra and the Ramat Gan Chamber Orchestra and featured in various festivals including the Israeli Music Festival, Felicija Blumenthal Festival, and the “Contrasts” new music festival in Lviv, Ukraine. In 2019 he conducted the European Premiere of his Percussion Concerto with the International Symphony Orchestra Lviv and the Tremolo Percussion Ensemble to great acclaim. At age 15 he made his public debut as composer and conductor with the Haifa Symphony Orchestra under the mentorship of the late Maestro Noam Sheriff. His compositions received numerous awards including the Klon Prize for young composers (2nd prize), The American Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship, and the 2017 Ödön Pártos Prize for an excellent performance of an Israeli work. In 2011, by commission of the Marc Lavry Heritage Foundation, he reconstructed the lost score of Lavry's Woodwind Quintet using a recording made in 1957.
Dor appeared as conductor with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Jerusalem Street Orchestra, INSO Orchestra Lviv, The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, and the Israeli Harp Orchestra. Currently serves as Music Video Director for the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and camera director for the Haifa Symphony Orchestra.
Dor studied composition with Prof. Menachem Wiesenberg, Prof. Yinam Leef and Prof. Yitzhak Sadai. In 2019 he graduated from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (Cum Laude) as the first conducting student of Maestro Yuval Zorn, conducting Stravinsky’s Rite of the Spring for his graduation recital and receiving the Dean’s Prize in 2018 for his achievements.Currently Studies conducting with Yi-An Xu at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music.
Dor has also participated in various international conducting masterclasses under the guidance of Prof. Howard Williams, Prof. Colin Metters, and Prof. Ulrich Windfuhr amongst others, from institutions such as the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Hochschule für Theater und Musik Hamburg.
