born on July 12, 1950, in Petrozavodsk, Russia. He began his musical journey under the
guidance of his father, Grigory Ilyich Tsvibel, and continued his education at Petrozavodsk Music

Pioneers, continuing in various educational institutions, laying the foundations of his lifelong
commitment to music education.
Valery graduated in 1968 from the Petrozavodsk Music College (now named after K. A. Rautio),
specializing in piano performance under the mentorship of Oleg Leonidovich Rudakov. Following
his military service in the Soviet Army, he resumed his career as a concertmaster and piano
teacher, notably working at the Specialized School of Arts in Petrozavodsk from 1989 to 1998. It
was here that Valery began composing small piano pieces for his students, nurturing his passion
for educational music.
In 1998, Valery Tsvibel immigrated to Israel, where he earned his living through hard physical
labor to support and feed his family, all while continuing to compose music. Despite these
hardships, his passion for music flourished. He composed the majority of his works in Israel,
resulting in the creation of thousands of piano etudes.

A Prolific Composer with Over 8,000 Piano Pieces
Valery Tsvibel has composed over 8,000 piano pieces, primarily lyrical etudes mostly in classical
dance forms such as waltzes, polkas, mazurkas, and minuets. His compositions are designed
with a unique educational vision, emphasizing musical expression over technical exercises.
Inspired by the School of Piano Bel Canto, his works focus on beautiful sound production and
emotional expression rather than mechanical finger dexterity.
His compositions are particularly suited for beginners, piano teachers, and self-learners, offering
pieces that are both educational and artistically expressive. Valery’s works aim to develop
phrasing, musicality, and tonal beauty, allowing students to experience the joy of expressive,
beginner-friendly piano music that encourages every student to find their own musical voice.
Additionally, his music is ideal for chamber and background listening, creating a pleasant
classical ambiance that is both soothing and elegantly atmospheric. Whether played in intimate
settings or as background music, his compositions help to cultivate a serene and refined
environment, perfect for relaxation or thoughtful reflection.
