Aviv Shibi

Aviv Shibi Shibi was born in Karmi'el in 1994. He is an Israeli composer based in Jerusalem, specializing in
modern and contemporary music. His works are characterized by a unique musical language,
percussive elements, rich harmonies, and the integration of electronic music. He completed the
direct track for both bachelor's and master's degrees in composition at the Jerusalem Academy of
Music and Dance, where he studied under Professor Ari Ben-Shabetai and Dr. Talia Amar. Shibi is a
two-time winner of the prestigious Mark Kopytman Composition Competition.

His winning pieces include The Garden Gnomes Ball for ensemble, written in honor of his first
percussion teacher, Michael Chernin, and Red Sun and Ship for symphonic orchestra, inspired by
Kandinsky's painting of the same name.

Shibi's portfolio also features notable collaborations, such as Cinnabar for Shakuhachi and
electronics, written for Shawn Head, and Trapped in a Loop for percussion and electronics,
composed for Thierry Miroglio. At 18, his orchestral piece was performed by the Galilee Chamber
Orchestra at the 'Israeli Music Festival,' conducted by Prof. Michael Klinghoffer.

His diverse repertoire spans solo instrumental pieces, chamber music, orchestral works, and
electronic compositions, reflecting his innovative contributions to art music in Israel and beyond.
