Shilo Ben Yaakov

Shilo Ben Yaakov A composer and pianist, currently pursuing a Master's degree in Composition at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, studying with Prof. Ayal Adler and previously with Prof. Haim Permont. Alongside my studies at the Academy, I continue my piano studies with Shoshana Cohen, teach piano, and work as a teaching assistant in Ear Training at the Academy.

Background

I grew up in Shilo (Israel). I have been studying piano and music theory since the age of 10 with various teachers (Michael Blechman, Shlomo Shnel, Reuven Cassel and Shoshana Cohen).

Main works:

a. "Yedid Nefesh" - Mixed choir (composed and performed 2024 as part of the "Ani Kol" project - an initiative by students from the Academy, focusing on vocal works, conducted by Rotem Kidron).
b. Duo for flute and cello (composed and performed 2024 by members of the Meitar Ensemble, in collaboration with the Academy).
c. "White Silk" - String quartet (2023).
d. Trio for clarinet, bassoon, and harp (composed 2023, performed 2024 by members of the 'Tedarim' Ensemble).
e. "The Majesty of Sunset" - Mixed choir (composed 2022, performed 2023 as part of the "Ani Kol" project, conducted by Rotem Kidron).
f. "Salachti" - String quartet (2019).
g. "Journey" - Piano solo (2017).
